Matt Hughes :
UFC Welter Weight Ex-Champ, Matt
Hughes is an intimidating fighter with an intimidating record.
At 41-5-0 (winning 18 of his last 20), Hughes is arguably the
greatest WW in UFC history. His career has been nothing short of
dominant.
This two-time All American wrestler
combines that wrestling style with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to even
out his fighting style. Fighting out of Hillsboro, Illinois,
Hughes’ record suggests a fighter still in the prime of his
career as many are waiting for him to slow down. But at 33
years old, he still could have several dominate years ahead of
him.
Hughes should never been
considered much of an underdog against any fighter in MMA.
He is a solid favorite against less talented fighters, he shows
no mercy and finishes his fights quickly.
Hughes has shown no vulnerability to any
particular style of fighter, his superior strength, skills and
determination usually overwhelm his opponents. The only
fighters to recently defeat Hughes are two of the most skilled
fighters in MMA history, BJ Penn and Georges St. Pierre, who
were both at the top of their abilities.
Strengths: Wrestling, take-downs
and slams, strength, intimidation
Weakness: None really.
