Mauricio Rua, known by his fans worldwide as Shogun, is only 25 years old and has already solidified himself as the best light heavyweight fighter in the world. He is known for an aggressive style that incorporates Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He is undefeated in Muay Thai competition and has been training in the discipline since age 7. His fight team is one of the most feared in the world, with training partners like Wanderlei Silva and his older brother, Murilo “Ninja.”

Shogun has a mma record of 16-2 with the two losses coming from “Babalu” Sobral early in his career and Mark Coleman most recently at Pride 31. His list of victims is quite impressive and include Ricardo Arona, Alistair Overeem, “Cyborg Santos,” Rogerio Nogueira, Kevin Randleman, Kazuhiro Nakamura, Cyrille Diabate, and the current UFC light heavyweight champ “Rampage” Jackson. Shogun won Pride's MW Grand Prix in 2005.
