WEC Odds and InfoWEC comes thru with another card of great fights and tons of betting opportunities. Every MMA fan should be watching WEC events, they are free (Versus) and full of high level fighters who go balls-out. Dominick Cruz decisioned Benavidez about a year ago and deserves to be favored, but -240 is crazy. Benavidez has steadily improved and he learned a bunch in their first match. Team Alpha Male (Faber's crew) is right up there with the top MMA gyms when it comes to fight preparation and I expect this to be a close fight rounder. Cruz's quickness appears to be the only advantage either fighter may have. You can certainly make an argument for either guy, but at the current price the only smart play is Benavidez +220. Anthony Pettis +145 is a dangerous dude. He's got a stinging striking game to go along with nasty submissions, a highlite machine. Shane Roller is kind of a plodder. Ho-hum, I'll put you on your ass and grind you out kind of guy. The thing is... Pettis may not have any answers for Roller's take-downs and we could see a rerun of Sonnen/Silva. Roller has enough experience now to avoid any mistakes, which could leave him vulnerable. Sure Pettis' talent might be THAT good, but -155 is a good price for the dominant wrestler. Love the skills, bet the grit. Anthony Njokuani -600 is a top-shelf kickboxer with zero ground game. At the current price, you'd be crazy to bet him and his glaring hole, he's not even worth throwing in on parlays. Maciej "Irokez" Jewtuszko sure looks like an MMA fighter and he's got some nice wins with his impressive record, but you have to ask, "were those guys any good?" He'll be cutting a bunch of weight and he's got some submission wins, so maybe... Or maybe Njok's lightning is way to fast for him. Pass. Scott Jorgensen -215 is the most likely winner of the night and you should bet him at this price if it's still available. He's probably the most improved fighter in the world over the last 18 months (right up there with Sonnen), he fits perfectly in this weight class, he's got all-round skills, and he's fighting on a regular basis. Nothing against Pickett +175, but he's a notch or two down the ladder. If Jorgensen shows up focused on Pickett, it will be another easy win.
